One of my aunts asked me to post my story so here it is.
Chapter 1
“What will it take for us to get you to say wow?” That was something that Jared’s friends would say to him all the time. Well at least the ones he had left. As you have probably guessed by now, Jared is not exactly what you would call a happy person. As a matter of fact, Jared had not shown any affection of caring for anything ever since the day his parents tragically died in a car accident. His friends knew that it was a terrible loss for him but what they couldn’t see was why he couldn’t just let it go. After all it had been three years since it had happened. Jared hardly ever left the house and when he did it was to go to school. Jared’s friends and Jared’s grandma (which was who Jared was living with) constantly worked together thinking of plans to get Jared to cheer up. Of course none of them worked. But Jared’s friend’s next plan was almost impossible to fail. If there was anything Jared liked more then anything else it was magic. And their next plan was to take him to the new magic shop that just opened on Main Street. That was sure to make him say wow. At least they thought so. The most difficult part would be getting him out of the house. But with a little help from his grandma they just might succeed.
Chapter 2
“Time for another wonderful day” Jared said sarcastically. Jared knew his friends were up to something again. It was probably to get him out of the house. Why couldn’t they just leave him alone? After all, he had told them at least a million times that he wasn’t their friend. They would probably never learn. Just as Jared was about to think of some other thing depressing, his friends crashed through the door. “Hey Jared how you doing?” one of his friends said.
“Go away and leave me to die” Jared mumbled.
“Why would we do that when there’s a whole world to explore outside!” his friend said. “You can watch T.V. to do that.”
“Yeah but it’s much more exciting to do it in real life.”
“Just go away already!”
“Alright fine have it your way.” Jared’s friends walked out the door. That was a lot easier then usual. They had to be pulling his leg. As if on Q his friends walked right back in the room. “We’ve been thinking, there’s a new magic shop down town that you might want to come see with us.” One of his friends announced. Even in his depression state Jared could not turn down going to a magic shop. It was one of his few weaknesses.
“Fine” Jared grumbled. “But I’m not going to happy about it.
Chapter 3
As Jared’s grandma took him and his friends to the magic shop in her green mini van, Jared was actually excited for once in his life since the accident. The store they were going to was called “Magic that makes you say WOW”. It sounded pretty cool so Jared thought he might as well give it a shot. The tiny mini van squeaked to a stop as they arrived to there destination. Jared almost couldn’t believe how excited he was. Each step Jared took felt like another heavy boulder falling from the collection on top of his shoulders. But it was all over when they walked in the store. It smelled like black licorice and popcorn which were Jared’s favorite foods. Soon they were all welcomed by a skinny man in a top hat. He told them that they were all excused to look at what ever they wanted in the rows and rows of magic tricks. While Jared and his friends rummaged through all the novelty items, Jared’s grandmother struck a conversation with the worker. Before Jared knew it, his grandma had already told the guy about what had happened with his parents. “Why does she have to bring that up every time she talks?” Jared thought. He noticed the guy in the top hat start to stare at him. Soon he invited Jared over into the conversation. “Why hello Jared. Your grandmother has told me a few things about you.” He said.
“Great.” Jared said sarcastically.
“I was wondering if I could show you something in the back of my shop if you don’t mind?” he asked.
“Sure what have I got to lose” Jared agreed. “What should I call you?”Jared asked curiously.
“Call me John. John Parker.”
“Nice to meet you John.” Jared said.
“Nice to meet you to.” John replied. “Here we are.” John exclaimed. They entered a room labeled “IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY” In big red letters. Jared couldn’t help but wonder what was going on. The air felt refreshing as they entered the room. There were machines in every direction in all sorts of varieties. “Do you want to go back?” John asked.
“Huh?” Jared asked.
“Do you want to go back to the day your parents died and change it all?”John asked more specifically.
“Yes of course!” Jared said excitedly.
“I can do that. I can do that with a push of a button.” John said. “Just lay down on that table over there and you’ll be in the past in no time at all.” Jared did as told. The table he was laying on was banana shaped and all white. “Just tell me when you’re ready.” John told Jared.
“I’m ready now.” Jared said unsurely.
“On the count of three. One Two Three!” John said at the top of his voice. At first Jared couldn’t feel anything. He saw this weird scanner line go up and down the banana shaped table several times. Then the table started to get warm against his back. “Goodbye.” said John. Just as Jared was about to reply, everything went black and he was out.
Chapter 4
“Ohhhhh.” Jared groaned. When Jared opened his eyes he was back in his bedroom lying on his bed. Jared glanced over at the calendar on his wall. According to the calendar it was the day his parents died. It was a good thing for him since it happened at night and it was morning right now. He rushed down the stairs to find him self looking at his parents eating breakfast at the table. Jared ran to hug his parents.
“Good morning sleepy head. What took you so long to wake up?” His Dad asked.
“Oh nothing. Can you guys promise me something?” said Jared.
“Sure sweetie.” Said his Mom.
“How about we stay home all today and do family activities together?” Jared asked.
“Sure. Me and your Mom were going to grab a bite tonight but we can save that for another day.” His Dad answered.
“Okay. I’m going to go outside for a minute to get some fresh air real fast.” Jared told them.
“Okay don’t be to long because like you said, this is our day to be together.” His parents said. Jared dashed to his bike and rode it as fast as he could down Main Street. He stopped at the place where the Magic shop had been. He found him self staring at an empty lot.
“Wow.” Was the only word, Jared could manage to say.
